Summary

AlthoughYellowjacketshasn’t been renewed for a fourth season, fans and cast members alike have smart ideas about where the dark story could go.Premiering on Showtime in 2021, the gripping and haunting drama series charts the traumatic journey of teenagers stranded in the Canadian wilderness when their plane crashes. The show features two timelines and shows their changing relationships and the pain they caused one another in the 1990s while exploring their attempts to live regular adult lives.

It’s hard to imagine the series ending without fans getting answers to some big questions, although it would be fineif the supernatural elements were never explained. TheYellowjacketsseason 3 finale was also so big and epic that the show is at a particularly exciting point. Acast member gave an interview in April 2025 after the most recent episode aired and shared their ideas forYellowjackets4 and 5, and they would work perfectly.

Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) on Yellowjackets

Sophie Nélisse Shared Their Thoughts About Yellowjackets Season 4 And 5

In an interview withThe A.V. Club, Sophie Nélisse, who plays teenage Shauna Sadecki, said theYellowjacketsshowrunners Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco, andBart Nickerson are “very mysterious” and the actors are given scripts one week prior to filming every episode. However, she mentioned thatthe teenage versions of these memorable characters will get rescued, and she thinks it will be interesting to see how they fare when they’re back home. Nélisse said:

“The lines get very blurry, and that’s what I’m very excited to dive into. And I’m very excited to see them getting back in society and navigating relationships with partners and friendships and reintegrating in school and being in the public eye and this overnight fame. How are they going to cope with that? There’s a world of possibilities.”

Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) on Yellowjackets

The actress added:

“I would imagine this next season being a bit in the wilderness and then their rescue, and then season five being them back home. But that’s just me guessing.”

The showrunners have talked about having a five-year goal forYellowjackets, and that sounds right. IfYellowjacketsseason 4 is about the girls being rescued and season 5 focuses on when they’re home again, that would be perfect. The bestYellowjacketsepisodesare as gritty as they are emotionally revealing, and since the rescue has been hinted at for three seasons now, it would make sense to devote an entire season’s timeline to it. It also makes sense to separate the two storylines of the rescue and the girls adjusting to their old lives. There’s too much to explore otherwise.

There were some big questions about teenage Lottie (Courtney Eaton) and Jackie (Ella Purnell)beforeYellowjacketsseason 2 premiered, and fans have a lot of queries aboutwho saves the girls and how their friends and families approach them when they get home. Sincethe season 3 ending hints at Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) going down another challenging path of self-discovery, it seems likely thatYellowjacketsseason 4 will spotlight this complicated, sometimes unlikable, and always fascinating character.

While the show has someundeniable creepy horror elements, it’s mainly about how the characters navigate how to possibly handle the horrible things they did in the wilderness. Is that even possible, or is that a lost cause? It’s also about how they react to one another as their lives change and spiral out of control. Ultimately, fans know the characters can never truly leave the woods behind. Hopefully,Yellowjacketsseasons 4 and 5 will happen because there is so much more that fans want to see.

Other Cast Members Shared Their Thoughts About Yellowjackets Season 4

“I really liked everybody a lot. I had a great time. I feel like the writing is really great, and it’s a challenge, and, you know, I like to be challenged as an actor, and I feel that the show, it really works."

There are severalother shows likeYellowjacketsthat fans can dive into while hoping for news aboutYellowjacketsseason 4. But there’s no doubt that viewers don’t want the story of the Antler Queen, Pit Girl, and the strange alliance between these prickly and tough characters to end anytime soon.
