Summary

TheSplitgate 2open beta is finally live again, but with some important caveats. Developer 1047 Games faced major difficulties withSplitgate 2’shighly anticipated open beta launch earlier this week and took it offline for a few days to address the issues. Now, players should be able to log on and start finding matches, albeit in smaller numbers than expected.

Splitgate 2was announced in July 2024 as the sequel to the beloved 2019 PvP arena shooterSplitgate. Much like its predecessor,Splitgate 2’s first-person shooter gameplay throws portals into the mix for a unique and frenetic brand of map traversal. To keep things fresh, though, the sequel adds new maps, weapons, game modes, and more. Notably,Splitgate 2also features three unique factionsthat bestow certain powers and items upon players to accommodate a bevy of playstyles. While everything aboutSplitgate 2sounds like a recipe for success, the game’s open beta had a bit of a stumble.

WhenSplitgate 2’s open betawent live on May 22, technical instability and gameplay bugs left many players unable to access core features or even connect to the game at all, forcing 1047 Games to shut the servers down mere hours after going live and issue a public apology. Now, the studio’sofficial Twitter account has confirmedthatSplitgate 2’s open beta is back online, but there is a stipulation to keep in mind for those planning to hop on. 1047 Games reopened theSplitgate 2open beta in a limited capacity, which means login queues and capped player counts have been implemented to maintain server stability.

Splitgate 2 Open Beta Servers Are Stable For Now

According to player reports and 1047 Games itself, matches inSplitgate 2’s open beta are largely running smoothly, which is a positive sign for the time being, and the team is also focused on resolving three key issues. First off is recovering cosmetics that failed to appear in players' inventories, which are apparently stored separately and haven’t been lost. Next up is reactivating XP and leveling systems, which have been inconsistent since theSplitgate 2open beta’s launch. Lastly, the devs will gradually increase server capacity to let more players in while ensuring the infrastructure holds up under duress.

While someSplitgate 2fans may be disappointed at a slower re-launch for the open beta, the approach will at least ensure that 1047 Games can optimize the server load in a way where it won’t see catastrophic technical issues, like during its initial launch. Moreover, it’s worth noting thatSplitgate 2’s open beta is expected to remain availableuntil the game’s full release later this summer.
