Bethesda has stated in the past thatStarfieldis set to get annual expansions, but there still has yet to be any word on what its second DLC will be.Starfieldreleased its first expansion last year withShattered Space, and while it expanded the game’s lore a little bit, it still left much to be desired. Now, all sights are set on the next DLC, as gamers eagerly await Bethesda’s announcement.
Starfieldhas a lot of potential going for it, but one of the main criticisms since launch is that it’s missing the signature Bethesda spark. Despite being a new game, it seems as though past Bethesda projects had richer worlds with more dynamic interactions. IfStarfield’s next DLCreally wants to perk up the ears of longtime Bethesda lovers, then looking toSkyrim’s DLC,Dawnguard, may hold the key to success.

Starfield Should Finally Embrace the Supernatural
While Bethesda’s wish to keepStarfielda hard sci-fi story that is based in reality is noble, it may not be the best way to craft an interesting world.Starfieldhas improved since its launch, but the lack of humanoid alien life and other out-of-this-world beings might be keeping the game from reaching its full potential.
Starfieldhas plenty of alien life, but it’s far more grounded than other sci-fi RPGs. Sentient alien life still has yet to be introduced.
Players Should Have More Than the Starborn
The Starborn are one of the most important pieces ofStarfield’s lore. Normal humans who have passed through the Unity, players eventually become a Starborn once they complete the game’s main mission. It’s an intriguing concept, but when it comes to turning into a new being,Starfieldneeds to have more than the Starborn.
InSkyrim’sDawnguard, players can either join the titular Dawnguard, a vampire-hunting organization, or side with the vampires and ultimately become one. It’s a fun expansion tothe lore ofSkyrim, andStarfieldcould greatly benefit from the same kind of playfulness. Whether it be a special type of sentient alien life form or maybe even a space-faring race of vampires,Starfieldmay need to lean harder into the more whimsical side of Bethesda’s history.

Starfield’sShattered SpaceDLC finally revealed the mysterious House Va’ruun. Despite the extra lore, one of the biggest criticisms of the expansion was its short length. The DLC also introduces two more companions, but for players wishing to broaden their romance options, these new characters cannot be romanced.
Starfield Has Yet to Reveal its Future Plans
Right now, Bethesda has kept pretty quiet about its next DLC forStarfield. After the lukewarm reception toShattered Space, it’s quite possible that Bethesda may be rethinking its game plan for the next expansion. Of course, only time will tell, butStarfieldneeds to come out swinging with whatever its next expansion happens to be.Becoming a vampire inSkyrimcan be a lot of fun, andStarfieldis missing a more fun-loving edge.
With theXbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 8, Bethesda has the chance to finally reveal its future plans forStarfield, but this remains to be seen.Starfieldmay have yet to hit the highs thatSkyrimand other fellow Bethesda games were able to do, but it still isn’t impossible if the right moves are made.Starfield’s next expansion may be a huge mystery at the moment, but once Bethesda finally reveals an update, there is hopefully a more playful concept waiting for fans.
