Game of Thronesis one of the greatest TV shows of all time that fans loved until the ending. The amazing lore and worldbuilding in George R.R. Martin’s work were off the charts as fans enjoyed an epic narrative with numerous twists and turns.
After the events of the finale, the realm was split once again into various kingdoms that were ruled over by a lord. Each of these regions differs in power but is equally important to maintain the harmony of the newly formed Six Kingdoms, along with the other independent realms that don’t fall under this hierarchical structure.
Spoiler Warning: this list delves into major story spoilers throughout the entire show, including some spoilers from the final episode.
9The Reach
Ruler: Lord Bronn
Bronn of the Blackwater was nothing more than a lowly mercenary with a sharp tongue whoinstantly won over Tyrion’s favor. He always looked out for himself and wanted to rule over a kingdom, which seemed unlikely at the time.
However, after Daenerys’s death at the end ofGame of Thrones, the promise made to him was fulfilled as he became Lord Bronn and ruled over the Reach. He’s a fledgling ruler who will take some time to adjust to the job before he can help his kingdom flourish.
8The Iron Islands
Ruler: Lady Yara Greyjoy
The Greyjoys haven’t had the best luck, with Theon being tortured to the point where he was a shell of his former self. However, after the Great Council in the Dragonpit, peace was somewhat restored in the worlds once again.
Yara Greyjoy became the rightful ruler of the Iron Islands, a sealocked kingdom that boasts a powerful navy. The events ofGame of Thronesmay have rocked the kingdom, but there’s no steadier hand to steer this ship than that of Yara.
7The Vale Of Arryn
Ruler: Lord Robin Arryn
The Vale of Arryn is one of the most tactically sound locations in Westeros. This is the only reason why the kingdom won’t fall into complete anarchy afterthe spoiled Robin ascended to the throne.
Lisa Arryn was too overprotective of her child and didn’t give him the guidance he needed to be a good ruler. Hopefully, the advisors selected to guide Lord Robin will help him become a worthy ruler.
6The Stormlands
Ruler: Lord Gendry Baratheon
The Baratheon name was all but dead, what withCersei doing whatever she could to tarnish the legacy of her husband’s family. It didn’t help that infighting between the Baratheon brothers caused further unrest in the family, leading to the deaths of both Renly and Stannis.
However, a silver lining existed for the Baratheon line in the form of Gendry, who was legitimized and chosen to rule the Stormlands. It will take a while for the Baratheon name to become fearsome again, but Gendry seems like he’s more than up to the task of living up to his father’s great (and somewhat controversial) legacy.
5The Riverlands
Ruler: Lord Edmure Tully
House Tullysuffered under the wrath of the Freys, causing a lot of their political clout to be diminished in the process. Thankfully, Walder’s house chose the wrong allies and were decimated when Daenerys lost her marbles and sacked King’s Landing.
This allowed Edmure Tully to reclaim his lands and title as the rightful ruler of the Riverlands. Things will take a while to steady under his rule, but he’s competent enough to ensure that House Tully becomes a name to be respected once again.
The Riverlands weren’t previously considered their own ‘kingdom’ as part of the Seven Kingdoms since they were part of the Iron Islands during Aegon’s Conquest, and that naming convention continues into the ‘Six Kingdoms’ titling, despite their independence from the Ironborn.
4Dorne
Ruler: The Prince Of Dorne
Dorne is one of the most notable kingdoms in Westeros, with the allure of characters like Prince Oberyn Martell and the Sand Snakes being clear for everyone to see. However, there’s no denying that the kingdom took a hitafter the actions of the Lannister family.
With an unnamed prince of Dorne leading the kingdom, fans can only assume how the kingdom is faring after Daenerys' death. Given how powerful this kingdom was, most people rightfully assume that it won’t take long for Dorne to reach its glory days once again.
3The Westerlands
Ruler: Lord Tyrion Lannister
Casterly Rock is the home of the Lannisters and one of the most notable locations inGame of Thrones. Despite the many deaths faced by the Lannister family, there’s no denying thata shrewd character like Tyrionwill help steer the family’s legacy in the right direction.
He’s a wise man who’s bound to be a competent ruler. It won’t take long for the Lannisters to become one of the richest families again, which will prove again and again why they never forget their debts.
2The North
Ruler: Sansa Stark, The Queen In The North
The Great Council in the Dragonpit made huge changes to the structure of the Seven Kingdoms, with Sansa managing to negotiate the independence of the Kingdom in the North. This is the entire reason why the new structure is known as the Six Kingdoms.
An independent North can achieve great heights without being held down by the restrictions of this agreement. The Starks have faced a ton of strife, but Sansa is more than capable of bringing a new age of glory for this beloved House.
1The Crownlands
Ruler: King Bran I The Broken
It’s hard to look at Bran’s ascension to the throne objectively, given how disappointing the series finale ofGame of Throneswas for many. However, in terms of pure power, it’s clear that Bran’s kingdom is the strongest of the bunch.
He has inherited something special, even after the destruction of King’s Landing that was caused by Daenerys. With his powers as the Three-Eyed Raven, it’s easy to see why he will usher in a new age of peace and prosperity for the Six Kingdoms.
While existing as the seat of power for the Six Kingdoms, the Crownlands themselves were not considered one of the ‘kingdoms’ in the Seven Kingdoms due to the land having previously been part of both the Ironborn and Stormlander territories — this continues into the ‘Six Kingdoms’ naming convention.
