Summary

Sages are a souped-up version of the Red Mage with all their points invested in magical stats. This makes them adept at using both Black and White Magic, although it comes at the cost of their physical stats being downright abysmal.

Players who don’t mind a risky party makeup will love putting a Sage in their party to enjoy the best of both worlds. As long as they’re protected from any hard-hitting physical attacks, Sages can be a nightmare for enemies at high levels in their respectiveFinal Fantasygames.

Tellah may have been a great Sage in his prime, but this isn’t the version of the character that fans see inFinal Fantasy 4. Instead, what they see is an old, frail man who has lost his memories and must regain his mastery over magic from the ground up.

While he eventually gains access to several powerful spells, Tellah is way past his prime. This is reflected in the fact that his MP pool stagnates at 80, meaning that he doesn’t even have the strength to use Meteor despite re-learning this spell.
