Summary
The majority of the companies participating inSummer Game Fest 2025have been officially revealed, with one of the biggest surprises being the return of Nintendo. The Japanese gaming giant has been skippingSummer Game Festfor years, but is now poised to come back to promote its upcoming console.
True to its name, SGF has been taking place every summer since 2020. Organized and presented by journalist Geoff Keighley, the2025 iteration of Summer Game Fest is scheduled to kick offon June 6.
As is tradition, the organizers started revealing this year’s partners about a week ahead of the event itself. The first batch of confirmed participants includes 57 companies, ranging from Amazon Games and Devolver Digital to Square Enix and IO Interactive. Among the biggest surprises is Nintendo, returning to the event for the first time in years. The Japanese group skipped the 2023 and2024 editions of SGF, opting instead to reserve its last two summer announcement waves for standalone Nintendo Directs held in mid-to-late June.

Another Nintendo Direct May Be Happening Around SGF 2025
While the list of participants mostly features company names, Nintendo is listed as “Nintendo Switch 2,” suggesting the gaming giant is attending SGF 2025 specifically to promote its next-gen console, set to launch one day before the event, on June 5. Its involvement in the upcoming showcase does not necessarily rule out the possibility of another Nintendo Direct happening next month. The company has held at least one such event every June since 2011—and often hosted more than one. The likelihood of this pattern continuing appears even stronger in light of a recent industry insider prediction thatanother Nintendo Direct is planned for around the time of the Switch 2 launch, i.e., early June 2025.
The Witcher 4 May Be Featured at SGF 2025
Another somewhat unexpected name on the SGF 2025 participant list is CD Projekt Red. TheCyberpunk 2077developer only began active production onThe Witcher 4in late 2024, and its next game hence isn’t expected to launch for at least another two years. Still, it appears CDPR will have something to showcase at SGF 2025—possibly a new cinematic trailer following up onThe Witcher 4’s world premiere at TGA 2024, another one of Geoff Keighley’s events.
SGF organizers stated that the 2025 edition of the show will feature over 60 participating companies. This means at least four names are still missing from the newly revealed list, which is officially labeled as a “Round 1” partner roster.
