Summary
The second season ofAndortakes place a year after the events of season one, and plays around with time beyond that to advance the story where it needed to go.. Like the first season,Disney released the showin four separate three-episode chapters, with each one being a somewhat separate arc.
It begins with Cassian Andor stranded after a botched mission and ends with events leading up toRogue One: A Star Wars Story, more or less. It was exciting, sad, and funny at times, albeit in a dark way. There were plenty ofmemorable quotes inAndorseason twoas well, so let’s discuss the highlights.
8“I’m Afraid To Ask.”
Dedra Meero (Episode Three)
One of the most intense scenes in season two happens in episode three, although it’s not intense likeaSawmoviecan be.Instead, there’s a bit in the episode where Syril’s mom, Eedy, comes over to have dinner and meets his girlfriend, Dedra.
She acts the same way toward Dedra as she does Syril, always having something to complain about, but through the lens of a backhanded compliment. Eedy even says something about how she pictured Dedra, and that’s when Dedra says this line about being afraid to ask, as if everything wasn’t tense already.
7“It Will Only Feel Like Forever.”
Bix Caleen (Episode Six)
Bix is one of the most tragic characters in season one ofAndorbecause she goes through an intense torture scene, doled out by a doctor working for the ISB named Gorst. She escapes, thanks to Cassian, but in season two, she keepshaving haunting nightmaresabout Gorst.
Some people need therapy to get over trauma, which is healthy, but Bix took another approach to get over it. The climax of episode six has Bix torture Gorst the same way he did to her, and features this line, and when she escapes his office, Cassian blows it up to put the exclamation point on her redemption.
6“We Are The Ghor.”
The People Of Ghorman (Episode Eight)
Episode eight might have both the saddest and most triumphant scenes in season two. Most of the episode has the people of Ghorman marching through the streetsprotesting the Empirewith angry shouts and posters.
They chant harsh words, and eventually, this turns into them singing their national anthem. Singing through national pride was a better and more heartwarming way to protest their distaste for the Empire, which made their fall all the more tragic.
5“The Monster That Will Come For Us All Is Emperor Palpatine.”
Mon Mothma (Episode Nine)
Mon Mothma is a huge part of the Rebellion in theStar Warsmovies, andAndorgave viewers a chance to get to know her better. Her biggest moment in the series happened in episode nine of season two, where she publicly declared Emperor Palpatine a monster.
It wasn’t just to the Rebellion, either, as she said this live during a Senate meeting, which forever painted a target on her back. It was the right thing to do, and it may have led to the rest of the galaxy following suit in their distaste for the Empire.
4“And I’ve Known You All Along. Seems Unfair.”
Luthen Rael (Episode Ten)
Episode ten starts really strong, with Dedra going to visit Luthen for the first time in the series. At first, it seems like it might be a game of cat and mouse, but Dedra reveals quickly that she knows Luthen is part of the Rebellion.
She has a line about how Luthen was under her fingertips for years, which is when Luthen replies with this great line. Besides that, Luthen has the last laugh, because he destroys all evidence of the Rebellion before she shows up and even tries to kill himself to keep Rebel secrets hidden.
3“If You’re Not A Rebel Spy, You’ve Missed Your Calling.”
Orson Krennic (Episode Eleven)
The last arc ofAndoris all about the Rebellion trying to pass on information about the Death Star and the Empire trying to keep it hidden, along with hunting down those they deem as criminals. Even Dedra is not safe from the Empire, as she acted on her own accord to find Luthen, thus upsetting the balance, which forced Director Krennic to come to Coruscant.
Her incompetence was so significant that Director Krennic commented on how she may as well have been a spy for the Rebels. The moment he stabs the top of her head with his finger is framed so menacingly.
2“No.”
K-2SO (Episode Eleven)
Star Warsfans love sassy droids, so they have been dying to see K-2SO appear since season one ofAndor,as he was a big part ofRogue One: A Star Wars Story. K-2SO first appears at the end of episode nine in season two, after getting reprogrammed, and then he appears again to aid in Cassian’s mission to rescue Kleya.
Still unsure of his loyalties, Cassian tells K-2SO to stay on the ship, but he eventually disobeys those orders and tracks Cassian down. The first soldier he takes down asks, “Are you with us?” which prompts K-2SO to throw him off a balcony, nonchalantly saying “No.”
1“It’s Insulting To Hear Him Run Down By People Who Have Given A Fraction Of His Sacrifice To This Rebellion!”
Cassian (Episode 12)
Cassian has some pretty good lines in season two, but his best has to be in episode twelve. After rescuing Kleya, he brings news of the Death Starto Mon Mothmaand the rest of the Rebellion council, who all thought that Luthen was lying.
Disgusted by this, Cassian lets the others have it. While they still don’t believe him, eventually Vel is able to tell Mon Mothma that she, too, believes Cassian and Luthen, which thankfully leads to Cassian going on the mission to steal the Death Star plans that would becomeRogue One: A Star Wars Story.
