Summary
Of all the TV shows in the world,The Boysis among the best at combining theestablished perception of superheromedia with a more gritty, gruesome narrative that isn’t afraid to go straight into the deep end. Blood, guts, gore, and more, used with a healthy splash of comedy, make every death scene feel either like a spectacular explosion of viscera, or a hilarious kill that brings just as much shock as it does laughter.
Throughout the seasons, there have been plenty of standout moments and a bunch of killings going on, some deserved and some due to the recklessness of the Supes that plague the streets. Some of the best parts of the show are where the creators really run away with their creativity, to create a visually striking and absurd scenario that is always executed to perfection.
7Translucent’s Explosive Death
The First Of Many
One of the first to die in the whole show, Translucent was one of the original members of The Seven, using his powers of invisibility to stop crimes undetected, whilst also getting up to plenty of nefarious schemes of his own. He encounters Hughie after discovering a bug that was placed at the team’s HQ and tracks him to his workplace, where the two begin to fight.
He is then kidnapped, brought to a hidden location, and placed in an electrical cage to prevent him from using his powers. They decide the only way to kill him is to place an explosive inside his body, through a less-than-desirable means. Eventually, after Translucent is able to leave the cage and once again confronts Hughie, the detonator is pulled, resulting in a glorious explosion of guts and slime. It’s simple and fun and starts the show off in the best way possible.

Sometimes, Mistakes Happen
During season three, the team discovers the existence of a substance called Temp V. This substance allows the user togain short-term powersthat wear off after a short while, as well as bringing some nasty side effects. Upon finding out that Butcher has been using Temp V, Hughie takes a sample for himself and becomes juiced up with a whole load of powers that can rival even stronger supes.
But his powers are by no means elegant, as he has to get completely naked in order to make use of the invisibility. The result is a hilarious bit of irony where he accidentally kills a guard with his super strength, repeatedly apologizing and serving as a call back to episode one, where a super carelessly killed his girlfriend. It’s a great scene made better by the comedy of his powers, with a nice splash of blood to keep things exciting.
5The Demise of Lucy The Whale
The Deep Can’t Seem To Do Anything Right
The Deep has become a character associated with comedic relief. No matter what he does or what he tries, he just cannot get the job done, and even when he does, it is never recognized by the other members of the team. WhenThe Seven go out in searchof The Boys and a new Super-terrorist, The Deep comes along and uses some of his aquatic affinity in an attempt to save the day.
By calling upon a giant whale with the lovely name of Lucy, he creates a wall to stop the ship from reaching the shore. But what ends up happening is both tragic and funny as hell. Butcher accelerates straight through the poor mammal, piercing her skin and leaving the team covered in guts. Deep quickly comes to and realizes what has happened, mourning the loss of a dear friend, but still eliciting laughter despite his sadness.
4Splinter’s Last Stand
Which One Is The Real One?
A character that has a particularly interesting but also rather funny power is Splinter. He possesses the ability to make copies of himself to do his bidding, whether it be performing menial tasks or ganging up on the enemy and overwhelming them with sheer numbers. The latter is exactly what happens to The Boys.
The whole sequence is pure gold, as Mother’s Milk tries his best to shoot, stab, and hit his way through the seemingly endless duplicates that seem to have no end. When they do finally take him down, the relief the characters have is immense. It is nice tosee a power that isn’t just super strength and laser beams, but is instead a more comedic and grounded threat.
3Killing Guards With A Baby
Supes Have To Start Somewhere
It might not be one specific death but a whole load, in one of the most memorable scenes in the entire show. After breaking into a hospital in search of the infamous Compound V, Butcher and Mother’s Milk stumble upon a ward of babies, all dosed up with the liquid and granted powers beyond comprehension and all ethical boundaries.
As the duo are stopped by the guards, Butcher wastes no time in grabbing the nearest infant and starts unleashing waves of lasers that slice through everything in their path and quickly dispatches the entire group in just a few seconds. The way the scene is shot, combined with the overall insanity that is a laser baby, makes it so unforgettable and just a delight to watch from start to finish.
The Deep Fails Again
In signature Deep fashion, the slippery Supe once again tries his best to save an oceanic friend from the captivity of man. In this case, it’s a lovable dolphin inside a zoo. He drives in with his van, grabs the dolphin, and places the creature inside on a hammock that hangs from the roof, in a scene that is downright absurd and illustrates perfectly his dedication to the cause.
But as always, nothing quite goes to plan. As a result of some harsh braking and unfortunate timing, the dolphin is catapulted onto the road and swiftly run over by a passing truck. The laughter never stops, and it is made better by the music choice that keeps things feeling light and fun, in a moment of mourning for one of thefunniest characters in the show.
1Termite’s Friend’s Unfortunate Fate
Let’s Not Go Too Much Into Detail
There is only one scene, one death, that can take the crown as both the funniest and probably most disgusting scene in TV history. Termite is a hero that has the power to shrink himself down to a minuscule size and, by using this power, he is able to sneak into places and even enter people’s bodies, then regrow to completely decimate them from the inside.
In this scene, he is having an intimate moment with a partner, and the two engage in what can only be described as a completely ludicrous act. Termite climbs inside his pal as a means of inducing pleasure, but ends up sneezing and growing to his original size, killing Peter in the process. It is gross beyond belief and will leave viewers laughing for minutes on end after what just might be the limit of what is possible in the show.
