Summary

Like most RPGs, the world ofThe Elder Scrollsincludes several countries and regions that serve to entertain and terrify adventurers. Cyrodiil is one of these locations, and being the center of the empire, it serves as the setting for several of the standalone games in the series.

There are several other towns and villages scattered throughout Cyrodiil, and they look even better inThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. Each city has its own unique history and setting, with some being nestled in snowy mountains and farmland and others being located next to rivers, lakes, or swamps.

9The Imperial City

Capital And Seat of the Septim Royal Line

It’s some royal intrigueregarding the Emperor himselfthat starts the game in this location. The player’s early goal is to escape from the confines of the capital, but their path leads them back sooner rather than later because this is where everything is when it comes to vendors, merchants, resources, trainers, and quests.

Looking at a map of the entire region, it’s true that all roads lead to the Imperial City. It also has dungeons, caves, and other secrets, and a player can spend a lot of time here leveling and exploring before heading into the wilderness.

6Anvil

A Seaside Pirate Sanctuary

There’s a lot of Hammerfell and Valenwood’s influence here in Anvil, with both places being closer than the Imperial City when considering both trade and travel time. This is a small city with prosperous trading connections, and players will notice that there seems to be a lot of money here, considering the population and size.

4Bruma

Access To The Jerrel Mountains

Bruma has fewer lofty towers or elaborate decor, and design here is more about function than form, which means people care less about how things look provided they’re keeping out the cold. This is the northernmost point of Cyrodiil, with onlythe lofty Jerrel Mounatians separating Bruma from neighboring Skyrim.

There are a few famous landmarks nearby, such as Dragon Claw Rock to the north and Gnoll Mountain to the east, the latter of which is home to a player housing option in Frostcrag Spire. Most players will discover Bruma when they take Martin Septim to Cloud Ruler Temple, which is directly north of Bruma, as part of the main questline.

3Cheydinhal

The City At The End Of The Blue Road

Quaintly Bavarian with its Fachwerk houses and Gothic church, Cheydinhal is one of the most beautiful cities in Cyrodiil, partly thanks to the influence of neighboring Morrowind. It’s nestled in a verdant forest, complete with snowy mountains in the background and a nearby lake.

Players can just come for the view, but there’s also plenty to keep a hero busy. The Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, andthe Dark Brotherhood all have a strong presence here, and for those who have theKnights of the NineDLC, the Great Chapel of Arkay is part of the questline.

2Bravil

A Quiet Seaside Town

There’s a lot for an adventurer to do in Bravil, which is one of the grittier and less forgiving towns in Cyrodiil. Located on Nibenay Bay, the city is close to the border of Elswyr and bordered on the south by the Larsius River, and its poverty is reflected in the simple home designs, large number of vagrants, and unkempt houses.

Players with theShivering IslesDLC can findthe door to Sheogorath’s wacky realmon an island off the coast, and only a city as dark and cynical as Bravil would house the Crypt of the Night Mother. Thieves who are in touch with their local guild have more to do here in relation to other cities, and those who are still looking for a Gray Fox contact can find one here.

1Leyawiin

A Small Town With Many Secrets

There might not be much to Leyawiin at first, but there’s a lot to explore in this isolated corner of Cyrodiil. It’s a plain stone architecture squeezed between Elswyer and the Black Marsh, which is whymany of the residents are Khajit and Argonians.

Most of the quests here involve bandits, skooma dealers, and forest vermin, but players who want to do some exploring can find Ayelid ruins, forts, camps, mines, and several Nirnroot along the southern coast and the banks of the Lower Niben.
