Summary
Most people born into the world ofMy Hero Academiawill possess aQuirkthat they can rely on for the rest of their lives. These unique abilities can take all kinds of weird forms, and though many are suitable for combat, a select few are so absurdly strong that they essentially break all the established rules, residing in a league of their own. In other words, these abilities are downright brokenand are far too powerful for anyone to handle, including their own users at times.
The way these particular Quirks work in action makes them incredibly difficult to counter, resulting in the users being some of the most feared individuals in the entire series. When looking at all the Quirks shown throughoutMy Hero Academia’slong-running story, these are among the most fundamentally broken of the bunch when focusing on their usage and effectiveness as overall abilities.
8Erasure
Erasure Provides A Perfect Counter To Every Quirk
It doesn’t matter how big or powerful a villain’s Quirk may be, Eraserhead can shut down anyone he sets his eyes on, preventing them from unleashing their ability so long as he maintains eye contact. Though it may be a risky Quirk to use, considering it will immediately switch off the moment Aizawa blinks, the fact thatErasurecan act as a counter to almost every other Quirk in the series cannot be ignored.
While this is very useful for sweeping up street thugs before they cause any more chaos, Aizawa has also managed to use Erasure on numerous powerful opponents. In the final war, Aizawa kept a super-powered Shigaraki in a weaker form so that he could buy some time for the other heroes to arrive on the scene, which is far from an easy feat consideringShigaraki’s god-like strengthat that point.
7Half-Hot Half-Cold
Todoroki Covers All The Bases Thanks To His Mix Of Elements
Todoroki gained hisHalf-Hot Half-ColdQuirk due to his parents, who came together as part of a Quirk marriage. The intention for Endeavor was to produce a child who would be strong enough to overtake his arch nemesis, All Might, and finally, he found his ‘perfect’ son in Todoroki.
Todoroki is able to wield not one, but twoelemental Quirks, and since he can balance the two, it gives him a ton of versatility in combat. Most of the time, Todoroki will use his ice for defense and speed, while keeping the flames for when it’s time to let out a devastating finishing blow to burn any evil villains to smithereens.
6Creation
Anything The User Thinks Of Can Be Made Real With The Creation Quirk
By using up lipids from her body,Momois able to create anything her mind can conjure up. This literally means she can materialize any weapon, object, or item that she needs at that moment. From long-range catapults to close-range lightsabers, the fact that theCreationQuirk is only limited by the user’s imagination highlights how insane it really is in practice.
Momo was only able to show this Quirk off a handful of times throughout the series, but she still managed to take down her fair share of villains and students with deadly weaponry. While Momo tends not to go overboard with her Quirk so that she doesn’t gas out too early in a fight, one can only imagine how much more devastating this game-changing Quirk could be if it were owned by someone a little more reckless.
5Overhaul
Overhaul Can Mold The World Into His Own Freaky Image
The Overhaul Quirk isa little weird in how it works, though, when seeing it in practice, it’s clearly an ability that can deal some serious damage. Not only that, Overhaul the person can also mold anything that he tears apart into whatever he needs at that exact moment of the fight.
During his intense bout with Midoriya, for example, he was able to merge himself with the corpse of Shin to become a giant mutant. As someone who can destroy and repair anything he touches, Overhaul is essentially playing god in a world that he sees as plagued by infection and disease. Therefore, he had no qualms using this insanely strong ability in some pretty horrific ways to achieve his goals.
4Foresight
Being Able To Peek Into The Future Made Nighteye An Invaluable Asset
The former sidekick of All Might, Nighteye, was gifted with the ability to see into the future thanks to hisForesightQuirk. The way it works is that Nighteye can see another person’s future from a third-person perspective, allowing him to act as an onlooker to future events. Though he couldn’t always spell out exact predictions, Nighteye could still provide a vague idea of where the heroes and villains were headed, as he makes clear when warning All Might that he will one day meet a grusome demise.
Because Nighteye iskilled offfrom the series in the same story arc that he’s introduced, many fans believe Horiksohi realized how broken Nighteye’s ability truly was and decided to take him out of the equation before the final war. Though it has some drawbacks, it’s hard to argue that Foresight isn’t still a highly overpowered Quirk.
3All For One
Rather Than Just One Ability, All For One Is Multiple Quirks Rolled Into One
Why have just one Quirk when a user cancollect them all?All For One, as the name implies, allows the user to snatch other people’s Quirks for themselves. As the evil mastermind of the same name demonstrates, this is a freakishly strong ability that has the potential to turn the holder into an unstoppable killing machine.
It’s frankly unfair in how it works, which is why it’s seen as so fundamentally broken, considering it basically has no limits. Having so many Quirks will still take a toll on the person’s body, but All For One and Shigaraki were able to negate this issue for a while, becoming the strongest beings on the planet in the process.
2Rewind
Rewind Is Busted Enough To Make Even A Child Seem Terrifying
Despite only being a child, Eri is considered a dangerous human being because of herunpredictable Quirk:Rewind. As the name suggests, Rewind will revert the status of anything Eri touches. A gruesome example of this came when Eri was still a baby. Not realizing that her Quirk was going into overdrive, Eri ended up using Rewind on her own father, zapping him out of existence.
Because of Eri’s age, she isn’t able to use Rewind to its full potential, so it’s seen as somewhat of a risky last resort in most cases. However, it’s clear that if someone had mastered this ability, they would be severely overpowered, considering what this Quirk can actually do.
1New Order
New Order Turns The World Into Star And Stripe’s Personal Playground
The truth is,New Orderis on a whole different level compared to all the other Quirks. With this ability, Star and Stripe, the top hero of America, is able to change the natural laws and properties of anything she wants. If she wants to suck all the air out of the sky, or be able to wield a laser blast with her bare hands, all she needs to do is say the word and her wish will be granted.
Star and Stripe absolutely obliterated Shigaraki when using her Quirk, setting off a blast which looked nuclear from a distance, emphasizing the devastating power granted to her by this rare ability. Unfortunately, Star and Stripe is only in the story for a few episodes, though she could have caused a lot more carnage with her broken Quirk if she had been able to stick around for a little longer.
