Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is both a big RPG and a smaller one compared to some seemingly never-ending games like any of the Bethesda RPGs. Players should be able to finishClair Obscur: Expedition 33around thirty hours or a little more, and then that can be doubled if they want to 100% everything, which isn’t that daunting.
Still, with so much game to cover, players are inevitably going to make mistakes inClair Obscur: Expedition 33.They may miss out on an easy mechanic or skip a section they didn’t know about. For beginners who haven’t started their expeditionyet, these are some extra tips well worth knowing. There will also be some spoilers, but they won’t be elaborated on too much.
7Don’t Be Too Hasty To Leave Lumiere
There Are Missable Events
Whenever players start a new RPG, they can move through a tutorial or early stages quickly to get straight into the action. While it doesn’t take that long to get into battles within the game, players are free to explore Lumiere before setting off. Despite not having a menu to play with, there are missable things in the city that can affect the rest of the game.
For example, there is an earlyMime inClair Obscur: Expedition 33that can give players costumes. Also, an NPC will have a key that will be needed much later in the game, so the overall note is to explore Lumiere thoroughly before venturing off, because there is no going back.
6Don’t Spend Too Much Time On Gustave
Welcome To The Party Verso
One of the biggest surprises players will experience is in Act 1, which ends with Gustave leaving the party. This should only be about eight to ten hours into the game and then he is replaced with character, Verso.
Verso has similar abilities and uses the same swords. It’s necessary to level up Gustave as much as possible early inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, from his weaponsto his skills, but players should know not to make him the end-all be-all of the party. Using too many items on him, like respec items, would be a bad thing, for example, so just stick with his Attributes and weapons.
5The Paintress Is Not The End
The Game Truly Begins
Another sort of story spoiler happens when the penultimate event is about to occur. The seemingly final dungeon is called Inside The Monolith, and it is an amalgamation of all of the major dungeons players have traversed before. It’s a well-done design, and then, when players are about to reach the peak, the party will tell them there is no turning back. Whenever an RPG says this, it is usually the finale. InClair Obscur: Expedition 33’scase, it is only the beginning.
After defeating The Paintress, players will gain access to Esquie’s flying ability, and players can easily spend another twenty to thirty hours flying around and exploring. Also, thedamage cap will be lifted, which is huge forClair Obscur: Expedition 33players. Why there is so much left will not be detailed, but again, The Paintress is not the end, so don’t try and level up to a wild degree.
4Map Out Everything
Pull The Metroidvania Trick
Except forthe world map,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is not an easy game to navigate, thanks to dungeons lacking a mini-map. Players may not have realized that the developer will at least guide them toward the main objective by lighting the path. Sometimes it will be obvious, like in the Stone Wall Cliffs, which has lanterns floating above or near the main path, and other dungeons will have lights in other ways.
Beyond guidance, players must pull the classic Metroidvania technique and map out everything manually. See a wall that cannot be broken yet? Take a photo or write a note of its location. Find a boss who is too hard for now? Do the same thing and so on. Also, be daring and don’t avoid areas that say “Danger,” as players can sometimes be at the right level or at least gather rare items early by avoiding creatures.
3You Don’t Have To Hold Down Triggers During Free Aim
Also, How Breaks Actually Work
This may not help many people, but players used to shooters may be surprised that they don’t have to hold down the trigger button during Free Aim. Simply clicking it once will be efficient, which can help from straining the fingers too much during combat, especially when encountering areas with a lot of flying enemies like Sirene. Another battle tip concernsBreaking enemies inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, as all enemies have a little yellow bar that will rise as players do damage.
Players may be stumped as to why, when the meter is full, the enemy does not Break. Well, to fully Break an enemy, they have to use a technique that says it can Break them, so it’s wise to make sure every character, if possible, can at least have one Break technique like Gustave’s Overcharge.
2Pictos And Luminas
There Is A Stat Difference
The menu is not that easy to navigate inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, which can make it hard to understand things like Pictosand Luminas. Players can equip each character with three Pictos that will grant them passive abilities. When a Picto has been equipped for four battles, that passive ability will be learned for all characters to equip via the Lumina menu.
Players can earn Lumina points by leveling up, thus giving them more Lumina to equip at one time, or they can buy or find items called Colour of Lumina that will increase their limit. Once a Picto is learned, players may not think about it ever again, but there is a big difference between the two systems that they may not have noticed. Pictos can boost stats when equipped, which will be logged in the menu from Health to Speed. Besides assigning Attributes, it’s the easiest way to make a character more powerful.
1Don’t Attack NPCs If There Is An Option
There Is A Secret Character Waiting
Speaking of Colour of Lumina, there is an easy way to get a massive amount late in the game, and it involves not being an uncaring player. In the game, players will come across Nevron NPCs that will give players quests. They can complete the quests or attack the Nevron.
Players may complete the quest to get one reward and then fight them afterward, and notice no immediate changes to the world. However, in the late game, players can go to an area called The Fountain, where they will meet Blanche. If players have attacked any friendly Nevrons, Blanche will attack immediately, and it’s a tough fight. However, a massive amount of Colour of Lumina items will be rewarded if players decide to be decent human beings in the game instead.
