Valeria in Baldur’s Gate 3

10Valeria

Was Ready To Write Off A Case With No Investigation

Starting off with a character who players won’t encounteruntil the final act ofBaldur’s Gate 3,Valeriais an interesting NPC who some players are likely to defend. Valeria finds herself on this list due to how poor her detective skills are. Players will find themselves working with this Hollyphant to get to the bottom of the murder of a priest.

While Valeria has picked the easy option of simply assuming it was a refugee that the temple was looking after, the player is aware that something else is going on. Valeria won’t even help the player look for clues and would rather drink her wine, leaving the player to do all the evidence collecting themselves. Even if she’s hated, some players will still save Valeria when the time comes.

Mar’hyah in Baldur’s Gate 3

9Mar’hyah

Nobody Raises A Hand To Scratch

AnyBaldur’s Gate 3player is sure to know about the most loyal dog in the entire world. Scratch may not be an actual companion, but players can summon him to follow them around on their adventures inBG3.

Outside the city of Baldur’s Gate, players will find the dog handler who originally owned Scratch. While players may think they are doing a favor by returning Scratch to his home, meetingMar’hyah, the dog handler, for the first time leaves a poor impression. It turns out that she is incredibly cruel toall her dogs, as she even scolds Scratch in front of the player. Thankfully, she can be put in her place and forced to leave so that she never hurts another dog again.

8Aradin

He Should’ve Never Come Back

Act One doesn’t hold back in allowing players to meet characters that they will likely hate for the rest of the game, and will also rekindle that hate once they startBaldur’s Gate 3again.Aradinrequires the aid of the player when he and the rest of his group are being attacked by goblins while trying to get back into the Druid Grove.

Off the bat, Aradin is incredibly racist towards the Tieflings as well as being dismissive to the player who has just saved his life. Although he sets players on the path of finding the Nightsong, Aradin is a sore loser and, when he finds out about the player finding the Nightsong in the final act, he pays a visit to the player’s camp, hoping to steal it from them. He deserves everything he gets.

Angry Wulbren Bongle in Baldur’s Gate 3

7Kagha

Not Cut Out To Be Archdruid

Another hateable character from Act One can be found within the Druid Grove. Typically,a Druid is supposed to be welcoming or loving, especially with their respect for nature. However,Kagha, who is the acting Archdruid of the Grove while Halsin is missing, is anything but welcoming to the Tiefling refugees taking shelter in the Grove.

Kagha doesn’t make it difficult to hate her. The first meeting with this Druid has her threatening a Tiefling child with a snake that could kill the child. She is shown to be very confrontational with the Tieflings in the hope of kicking them all out, or they will meet nature’s wrath. Although this wannabe Shadow Druid can be redeemed, it’s still difficult to forgive her after her actions.

Lorroaken in Baldur’s Gate 3

6Balthazar

Absolutely Zero Redeeming Qualities

Players encounter all sorts of villains during their travels across the three acts inBaldur’s Gate 3. Although the main three of the Absolute may not be mentioned here, their lackeys, such asBalthazar, have still earned themselves a place as some of the most hateable characters in the game.

Necromancers are commonly seen as the bad guys, and Balthazar is no different, as he is the one keeping the Nightsong trapped and therefore harnessing that power to make Ketheric immortal. Besides torturing this woman, Balthazar is also one of the most gruesome characters to look at, and he says some rather dark things. He is also keeping his mother, whom he may have murdered, in a jar.

5Mystra

A Typical Pompous God Who Used Gale For Her Own Ends

As players get closer to their companions, they naturally start to form similar feelings towards the other characters that make up their companions' stories. As Gale has mentioned regularly, he was once in a relationship with the goddessMystra. However, this romantic story isn’t what it seems.

Firstly, Mystra had been watching Galedevelop his magic from an early age, which already raises some questions. However, the real issue with this goddessis how she treated Gale both during and after theirrelationship, as he now fights for his life, literally, because of her actions. She kept many things hidden from him and still selfishly expects him to submit to her if he hopes to survive. She even expects him to kill himself to save the world.

4Wulbren Bongle

The Worst Friend Ever

Unsurprisingly, one of the most hateable characters inBaldur’s Gate 3is the tiny Deep Gnome known asWulbren Bongle. When players first meet Wulbren, their impression of him will already be negative, as, although the player tries to help him escape from Moonrise Towers, he isn’t too appreciative of the their help.

Making matters worse, if players saved his friend, Barcus Wroot, in the first act of the game, seeing how Wulbren treats this fellow Deep Gnome later on will have some players' blood running hot. Wulbren continues to be a pain in the final act, as he’s too stubborn to change.

3Lorroakan

Rolan Should Have Never Met His Hero

Lorroakanis another hateable character inBaldur’s Gate 3that players come to despise due to how he treats their other favorite characters. Rolan is a Tiefling who the player meets in Act One. He is excited toarrive in Baldur’s Gateand finally beginhis prestigious apprenticeship with Lorroakan.

However, when meeting this Tiefling again at the tower in Baldur’s Gate, the Rolan isn’t as chipper as before and is badly bruised. Besides how he treats Rolan, which already places him firmly as one of the game’s most hateable characters, he also hopes to exploit the power of the Nightsong for his own gains, leaving no sign of any way to redeem him.

2Cazador

As Astarion’s creator,Cazadorrefuses to turn him into a full-fledged vampire and instead keeps him on a short leash as his spawn. When Astarion was trapped with Cazador before the events of the game, he was relentlessly tortured for fun and punished severely for the smallest of missteps.

As if this Vampire Lord couldn’t get any worse, he has been collecting countless vampire spawn that he keeps in cages under his manor. Cazador plans to sacrifice them all, including Astarion and his spawn siblings, so that he can walk around in the sun without fear of burning or the gnawing hunger that comes with being a vampire. Cazador is officially one of the worst.

1Vlaakith

An Incredibly Powerful And Incredibly Selfish Lich

Out of all the characters players meet inBaldur’s Gate 3,Vlaakithis by far one of the most hateable. As the Queen of the Githyanki, Vlaakith has nearly enough power to literally become a god. She expects complete loyalty from not only her own people but also whoever meets her, as she demands that the player bow to her, or she will simply wish them out of existence.

Besides this, Vlaakith is the reason that one ofthe most prominent Githyanki membershas been captured. She also uses the Gith to empower herself even more by absorbing them into herself. She was also very aware of the Ilithid invasion, but chose to do nothing about it. Vlaakith only cares about herself and her own power, making her an awful person, if she can even be considered a person anymore.
