Summary
In the world ofMy Hero Academia, becoming a fully-fledged hero takes a lot more than just physical strength. Considering these individuals have the responsibility of keeping civilians safe in times of crisis, they need to be someone that the government, students, and regular people can rely on. While all heroes know what’s expected of them once they enter the field, some of them can tend to get easily distracted, making them prone to going off-mission.
On the other hand, some heroes simply aren’t cut out for dealing with villains by themselves, sometimes because their Quirk relies on others, but also due to the heroes themselves being weak and more suited to a supporting role. Thankfully, there are still numerous heroes who, throughout the course ofMy Hero Academia’s story, have proven that they can get any job done that’s asked of them, without hesitation. The characters below are therefore among the most reliable of the bunch who can handle anything thrown their way.
8Fat Gum
While Fat Gum Excels At Keeping Civilians Protected, He Can Also Deal Significant Damage Too
Fat Gum is a Pro-Hero who first shows off his powers during theOverhaul arc. During the raid on the villain’s hideout, Fat Gum was able to use his body to absorb a barrage of attacks from the enemy goons, acting as a useful distraction which bought Red Riot and the others plenty of extra time to create a plan of attack.
However, while Fat Gum’s Quirk is primarily based around defense, when his body has used up all its energy, he can then inflict a devastating punch to knock out any villains who are left standing. Fat Gum’s versatility, paired with his absurd durability, makes him a very trustworthy Pro-Hero to send out on a mission.
7Izuku Midoriya
One For All Grants Midoriya The Ability To Deal With Even The Toughest Of Villains
Despite being bornQuirkless, Midoriya would quickly become one of the strongest characters in the entire series after he obtained One For All from All Might. This puts Midoriya in a rather awkward position for much of the series, since while the heroes can rely on him to dish out tons of damage, there is also the risk of him harming his own body due to the overwhelming underlying power possessed by his Quirk.
As the series goes on, though, and especially after Midoriya becomes accustomed to the Vestige’s Quirks, he becomes an invaluable asset for the heroes. After all, they relied almost entirely on Midoriya to take on Shigaraki, which nobody else would have been able to do, considering how powerful the villain had become by that point in the story.
6Tenya Ida
Ida Does Everything By The Book, Just Like His Brother
Asclass president of 1-A, it’s understandable why Ida would seem like such a goody two-shoes, but the reality is simply that he takes his role as a hero very seriously, especially being a member of the prestigious Ida family. When Midoriya and the others decide to disobey the teachers to go and save Bakugo, for example, Ida is the only one who tries to talk them out of it, proving that he will do whatever the higher-ups ask of him.
This isn’t even mentioning his Quirk, Engine, which allows him to reach a crime scene in mere seconds thanks to his incredible speed and mobility. Ida can be counted on to get the job done, being just as reliable a hero as his brother was when he was still active.
5Best Jeanist
A Wicked Smart Pro-Hero Who Can Shut Down A Villain In No Time At All
While Jeanist is often considered aside-character, he actually shows up a lot throughout the series, being someone who saves the heroes from a tricky situation on multiple occasions. Clearly, Jeanist has a knack for analyzing a situation and being able to determine the best course of action. This is complimented by his Fiber Master Quirk, enabling him to incapacitate a villain without even needing to break a sweat.
For example, Jeanist, along with a few other heroes, was able to hold off multiple League of Villains members at the same time, but he also kept multiple Nomus tied up at once during the Hideout Raid arc, which is no easy feat. Jeanist can use his abilities for both offense and defense, and for that, he’s become one of the most reliable members of U-A, who is always being sent on tough missions.
4Mirio Togata
When A Powerful Villain Is On The Horizon, Mirio Is Always Happy To Take Them Down
When Mirio first shows up in the story, not long before the Overhaul arc, he seems like some kind of goofy All Might cosplayer, but it’s soon revealed that he’s actually one of the strongest heroes in all of U-A. While he’s a great physical fighter, it’s Mirio’s Permeation Quirk that makes him such a threat. Mirio can become completely intangible, allowing him to morph through walls and even avoid attacks if he can time it right.
Mirio has put a tremendous amount of work intomastering his rather awkward Quirk, to the point where he’s now able to use it in all sorts of creative ways, such as flanking the enemy or attacking them from underneath the floor. Because of how difficult it is to counter Mirio’s ability, he’s often a top choice when a hero needs to be sent out to deal with a villain.
3Endeavor
Most Villains Will Decide To Turn Tail And Run If They Spot Endeavor Charging In
Endeavor may not be as inspirational or hopeful of a hero compared to the likes of All Might, but his terrifying presence and overwhelming power are why he has become so feared among the villains.Endeavor’s Hellflame attackscan incinerate anyone who dares to stand against him, and considering he has officially solved the most cases of any Pro-Hero, it’s clear just how reliable he is as a protector of society.
Though he can admittedly get a little hot-headed at times, Endeavor still cares about keeping people safe and always tries to ensure that his massive AOE attacks don’t end up causing any collateral damage. This is why so many people came to admire Endeavor, because of how ruthlessly he would deal with anyone who tried to disturb the peace.
2Hawks
Hawks Has Been Trained To Carry Out Even The Toughest Of Missions
Kohei Horikoshi, the author ofMy Hero Academia, has stated before that the reason Hawks has become so popular is because he’s a character who is difficult to read, and this certainly makes sense considering he almost seemed like a villain at first. As someone who was in regular contact with the League of Villains, fans are initially led to believe that Hawks was actually working on behalf of the villains. In reality, Hawks is simply so good at his job that he convinced Twice and the other villains to get on his side, just so he could extract information from them.
Hawks would even be willing tokill Twice in cold bloodafter he became too big of a threat to keep alive. As someone who was brought up in the Public Safety Commission, Hawks is always concentrated on the mission at hand, and understands that he will be required to get his hands dirty every now and again if it benefits hero society.
1All Might
All Might Was The Pillar That Kept Japan Stable For Many Years
Before All Might was forced to retire after using up the last of his power againstAll For One, he was the most well-known and renowned hero in all of Japan. As shown through flashbacks, alongside theVigilantesseries, All Might was capable of traveling across Japan in the blink of an eye, sweeping up criminals and keeping civilians safe every few minutes. It’s honestly staggering just how fast All Might was able to take down his opponents in his prime, but it’s exactly why he was so heavily relied on.
Most heroes have specific weaknesses and drawbacks that can hamper their effectiveness in certain scenarios, but this doesn’t apply to All Might. As someone with unrivaled power and speed, it’s no wonder that All Might was being ordered to resolve hundreds of cases every single day.
