AfterFallout: New Vegas,Avowed, and the originalThe Outer Worlds, expectations for the upcomingThe Outer Worlds 2are inevitably quite high. One wayThe Outer Worlds 2can be sure to live up to fans’ expectations is to address areas where its predecessor had some room for improvement. When it comes to the variety of armor and weapons inThe Outer Worlds, this is an area where the original game left a little to be desired, soThe Outer Worlds 2has an obvious opportunity to make some upgrades here.

Apart from players who wanted to collect all the differentunique armor and weapons inThe Outer Worldsfor the sake of completionism, there are a great many weapons and armor sets in the first game that arguably weren’t worth going out of the way to collect. So, forThe Outer Worlds 2, exploring a wider variety of weapons and armor could be an obvious improvement over the original game. Not only could this one take the game’s combat to the next level, but it could also have positive effects on the game’s RPG elements.

How The Outer Worlds 2 Can Expand Upon the Original’s Armor and Weapons

When it comes toThe Outer World 2’s variety of weapons and armor, both quality and quantity are equally important, naturally. While introducing a wider variety would be a step in the right direction, there should also be a focus on addressing fans' criticisms surrounding the armor and weapon variety of the originalThe Outer Worlds.

New Armor Types Could Be Right at Home in The Outer Worlds 2

Building upon the light, medium, and heavybody armor types inThe Outer Worlds, the sequel should consider introducing an under-armor layer that can be equipped alongside normal body armor. This would ideally allow players to benefit from additional stat boosts for combat, exploration, and dialogue-related skill checks, while also providing a little extra defensive stats.

It might also be worth separating body armor into multiple categories, such as making arms, legs, and chest pieces their own type of armor, instead of lumping them all together as full body armor suits like in the original game. This way, players would have a lot more control over the stats and defenses provided by their armor.

Assuming thecompanions inThe Outer Worlds 2can be permanently killed like those from the original game can be on Supernova difficulty, even the smallest amount of additional stat boosts and survivability could be the difference between life and death.

More Offensive and Defensive Options Could Shake Up The Outer Worlds 2’s Melee Combat

When it comes to the weapons inThe Outer Worlds, one weapon type that arguably has the most room for improvement is melee weapons. By introducing shields and throwable melee weapons, this could takeThe Outer Worlds’ melee combat and stealthto the next level. With shields enabling defensive maneuvers like parrying, this could make melee combat much more involved and fluid, while throwable melee weapons could be ideal for stealth builds, or they could also be useful as a backup weapon in a pinch.
