Like the best TV dramas,The Rookieseason finales put characters in jeopardy and make it impossible to wait for the next episode. The season 6 finale might have been the most haunting of all as fans learned Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave) and Jason Wyler (Steve Kazee) were on the loose.

The Rookieseason 7 charactershave experienced a lot of change, from Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) and Nolan figuring out their future plans to Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) starting a new relationship. Fans can’t wait for the season 7 finale, so where and when is it airing, and what’s the main storyline?

The Rookieseason 7 finale isbringing back Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave), and since he’s been free for a while, it will be exciting to find out what happened to him. The final episode of this fun and dynamic season will also put the spotlight on Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and will alsodelve into Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford’s (Eric Winter) relationship. It’s always interesting to watch Angela look into a case as she’s the perfect combination of no-nonsense and compassionate, which allows her to see things that others can’t.

Miles Penn (Deric Augustine) on The Rookie

Fans will also be glad to hear thatthe Chenford relationship is a focal point of this upcoming episode. While it would be greatif Nolan and Bailey got happy news about their family plansin the finale, it sounds like one of the major storylines will be all about Lucy and Tim. Atthe end of season 7, episode 16,Lucy took her sergeant’s exam, andthe final scene of episode 17revealed that she passed. While fans likely guessed that she would get good news, this plotline had a twist: Lucy is now a sergeant… but she’s working the night shift. Now Lucy and Tim have completely different schedules, which will make it tricky for them to see each other.

The Rookie Season 7, Episode 18 Will Also Focus On Miles Penn

While seeing Oscar Hutchinson will be a high point ofThe Rookieseason 7 finale because he’s been a memorable villain for so many seasons,Miles Penn (Deric Augustine) is also getting his own storyline. As the official description explained, Miles will go on a surprising date.

It’s been great to get to know Miles, and whileseason 7 has seen the return of characters like Seth Ridley (Patrick Keheler), the show has done a good job balancing the various LAPD officers' plotlines. Although the series focuses on Miles’s career hopes and dreams since he’s a new rookie, episode 13, “Three Billboards,“shared a more personal side of this character. As Miles spends time with athlete A.J. Knox (Justin Cornwell), A.J. offers him a private security job, and Miles says no.

In an interview withParade, Augustine talked about the advice that Tim gives Miles about sticking around and working hard on the professional path he’s already on. Augustine mentionedthe moving mentor relationship between the two charactersas Tim tries to help when he can, although he’s sometimes a bit prickly about it. The actor said:

“Miles is like, ‘Wow, this is the first time you’ve probably heard that from another human being that he looks up to that’s a Big Brother figure as a mentor really, and for Tim, who doesn’t really give those type of good notes, he’s like, ‘Man, I made this decision, and it’s paying off finally and the lifestyle I could have had, I found nothing better in the force with this team.’”

It’s smart ofThe Rookieto build off this storyline and show some of Miles’s romantic life. It will be interesting to see how all these storylines come together in what is sure to be an epic and memorable last episode of a great season.
