Summary
David Harbour is currently promoting his upcoming Marvel Studios movie,Thunderbolts*, but attention has already started turning toward his next project,Avengers: Doomsday. It will continue Harbour’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will see theThunderbolts*team interact with a plethora of new characters, both new and old, within the franchise.
For the actors, it provides the opportunity to work on set with old friends or perhaps meet people within the industry for the first time. That will be the case for Harbour, but there is one member of theAvengers: Doomsdaycast he is very familiar with, as they are long-time rivals.
Harbour has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, fromhis work onStranger Thingsto what he’s doing now with Marvel. However, he first got to know Pedro Pascal long before they broke into the industry, which ended up creating a rivalry between them, as he explained toEntertainment Weekly.
He said, “I’ve known Pedro Pascal since I was 17 years old because we went to North Western. We were in the same play, and he got the lead. Even back then, he was so talented. I’ve been mad at him for 30 years.”
Pascal will play Reed Richards inAvengers: Doomsday, and the new Fantastic Four team is set to appear in the film. It’s unknown whether they will interactwith theThunderbolts*crew, but the movie’s premise seems to be several teams, such as the Avengers and X-Men, all trying to stop Doctor Doom from achieving whatever he is setting out to accomplish within the movie.
Audiences are presuming that both Pascal and Harbour are going to be inAvengers: Doomsday, as their names were shown in the chairs as part of Marvel’s lengthy cast announcement. However, there have been some conflicting reports where the cast is concerned. It has recently been revealed that thescript forAvengers: Doomsdayisn’t actually finished, with the writing team actively working on it right now. The reported reason for that is because all of the actors cast to be part ofAvengers: Doomsdayhaven’t actually signed on officially. That means that there could be some significant changes to the lineup from what Marvel Studios has previously announced, which is causing issues with the script as it cannot be fully completed without knowing who will be part of the story. However, now that Harbour’s rivalry with Pascal has been revealed, there is an opportunity for the writing team to create an entertaining scene between them.
However, filming has begun forAvengers: Doomsday, with the Russo Brothers sharing a photograph of the set earlier this week to prove that things are underway for the latest Marvel blockbuster. The photo showed a chair for Victor Von Doom, seemingly confirming Robert Downey Jr’s appearance on set. Harbour hasn’t started any filming yet due to his work promotingThunderbolts*, which is taking up a lot of his time. That’s something Pascal will soon be doing forFantastic Four: The First Steps, which is Marvel’s next release. Following that, the two old rivals will have the chance to come together and create something special as part of theAvengers: Doomsdaycast.
