Thunderbolts*is Marvel Studios' latest release, and it has already garnered positive reactions from critics and a promising opening weekend box office projection. The movie finds a team of misfits from the MCU reluctantly teaming up to stop something even worse as they face their own demons and come to terms with their pasts. The movie also introduces Bob Reynolds aka the Sentry, possibly the most powerful (and dangerous) being in the MCU.

There is a lot to love aboutThunderbolts*, from the chemistry of the performers to the emotional but action-packed story, and despite focusing on B-list characters, it is setting up a lot of important stuff for the future. As with any Marvel movie, audiences are likely wondering about any post-credits scenes, and whether or not they are worth sticking around for (most of the time they are, of course). So just how many post-credits scenes are there in Thunderbolts*, and what do they show audiences?

How Many Post-Credits Scenes Does Thunderbolts* Have?

Much like many previous entries in the MCU,Thunderbolts* has two post-credits scenes. The first scene comes after the main credits, and the second comes at the very end. This puts it in league with other movies withthe same count such asAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania(whose Council of Kangs post-credits scene is now entirely pointless), but far below something likeGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which featured multiple scenes throughout the credits.Thunderbolts*also has morepost-credits scenes thanCaptain America: Brave New World, which only featured one at the very end of the credits. Thunderbolts* splits the difference with its two post-credits scenes, using one for a joke, and one to tease something pretty significant.A description of the post-credits scenes follows, so anyone looking to avoid spoilers should stop reading here.

From here on out, this article contains major spoilers for the end of Thunderbolts*, as well as the movie’s post-credits scenes.

What Happens in The First Thunderbolts* Post Credits Scene?

The first post-credits scene inThunderbolts*, which arrives after the main credits, is just for fun. After saving the citizens of New York fromthe Sentry’s dark side, the Void, the Thunderbolts team has now officially been rebranded asThe New Avengers. During the main credits, newspaper headlines and magazine articles express frustration and confusion over who these new heroes are (including Bob, who is also part of the team).

The scene opens on a woman in a grocery store cereal aisle. Alexi Shostakov aka Red Guardian (David Harbour), approaches her and shows her the box of Wheaties, which now features an image of the New Avengers. Earlier in the movie, Alexei expressed his wishes for the team to be featured on the Wheaties box, so it appears it really happened. Regardless, he comes on way too strong, trying to get the woman to buy the cereal. She reluctantly takes the box and walks away, but leaves it behind before turning the corner. It’s a funny, if uneventful scene sold by the performances, andRed Guardian is now rocking a stylish handlebar mustacheinstead of his massive beard.

What Happens in The Second Thunderbolts* Post-Credits Scene?

The second post-credits scene in Thunderbolts* is far longer and more significant than the first, but still features a lot of fun banter between the newly dubbed New Avengers. It is 14 months later, and the team is together in Avengers Tower. They discuss he fact thatSam Wilson is not happy about this move, and is apparently assembling his own team of Avengers.

There is a lot of discussion over who are the real Avengers, and even a mention that Sam is going to file a copyright claim. Luckily (or maybe not) Red Guardian has the answer in a ridiculous-looking suit that reads ‘Avengerz’ (with a ‘Z’), which he claims will sidestep any copyright trouble. The team also mentions the fact that Bob (Lewis Pullman) still has not resumed using his superpowers. Bob says he cannot use his powers because it will risk the Void coming back, but he did do the dishes, so there’s that.

During all of this, a warning about an “extradimensional” craft in outer space is being repeated by the team’s computer. Yelena, who appears to be in the leadership position, isn’t quite used to using voice commands to bring up the satellite images they need, but eventually does. The team watches as a rocket ship hurtles through space. It rotates toward the satellite camera, revealing the Fantastic Four logo, meaningthe titular team fromThe Fantastic Four: First Stepshas officially made its way into the mainline MCU at some point. The scene is followed by a message assuring viewers that “The New Avengers and Bob will return,” which has already been revealed bythe very slow Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal.
