Fans initially thought the follow-up toTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2was a sure thing, butActivision canceled the projectto focus even more heavily on theCall of Dutyfranchise. After acquiring the publisher, Microsoft came to the rescue and revived the remake. Ironically, they teased its announcement in a recenttrailer for aCall of Duty: Black Ops 6update. The game was later officially revealed and announced to be coming for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The success ofTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2and the fan base’s passion for it was what led to3 + 4being developed. The1 + 2remake, developed by Vicarious Visions, featured 21 professional skaters on its roster. It also had a trio of original characters that included Powell Peralta’s mascot Ripper, a Roswell Alien, and a Jack Black portrayal of Officer Dick.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Game Modes
Like the original two games, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2has a ton to do on the single-player side. The main attraction is Tours mode, in which you skate around levels to find the hidden S-K-A-T-E letters and VHS tapes while racking up high scores.
There’s also Free Skate mode, where you can explore the game’s levels and work on your skills without the pressure of a timer counting down. Single Session mode is where you can top the high score charts by achieving your best two-minute run. And Time Trial mode is a race-style setting in which you attempt to hit all the level’s checkpoints as quickly as possible.
