Summary

Every RPG uses ability scores to define and build a character as one of the defining features of the genre, and Dexterity is important for Rogues, Rangers, and other classes that use physical damage and utilizeSleight of Handabilities.Baldur’s Gate 3follows the same rules, and several classes use this stat to wield finesse weapons, open doors, and dodge their enemies' blows.

The Rogue, Ranger, and Monk all use Dexterity as one of their core skills, and classes that typically use finesse weapons like Warlocks and Bards also find it useful.Almost any class can use a buffto Dexterity when it comes to saving throws and ability checks, and there are several ways to raise this ability score as the character explores the Sword Coast.

7Ability Improvement

A Feat That’s Ideal For Any Class

Some classes get more Feats than others, but each player can count on at least four, and it’s virtually essential for classes that base their core abilities on Dexterity. That includes Monks, Rangers, and Rogues, along with other classes that use finesse or ranged weapons, which often include Bards and Warlocks.

Raising a character’s Dexterity is also about improving their saving throws for Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand, Stealth skills, Initiative, and armor class. The versatility of this ability score is what makes raising it beneficial to several abilities, and it is one of the best ways for a character to improve any ability score.

6Sharpened Snare Cuirass

Sold By Roah Moonglow In Moonrise Towers

When a character has a high Dexterity score to begin with, the player can build on that by finding a piece of armor, a weapon, or other accessory that allows them to use that score to modify their armor class. The classes that rely on Dexterity often have limited abilities when it comes to their armor class, so an armor with this quality makes a lot of sense.

One of the drawbacks of theSharpened Snare Cuirassis that it’s medium armor, which is inaccessible to Monks and Rogues, two of the classes that rely on Dexterity the most. Players cansolve this problem by using another Feator multiclassing.

5Gloves Of Dexterity

Sold By A’jak’nir Jeera Creche Y’llek

Gloves of Dexterityare an obvious choice, but there’s more to these gloves than the Dexterity buff. Players can find them in Creche Y’llek, which is part of the Mountain Pass zone, fairly early in the game, and keep them through all three acts.

These Very Rare quality gloves also grant players a bonus to their attack rolls in addition tomaxing out an important ability score. They’re Clothing, which is the lowest level of AC, but on the plus side, that means anyone can wear them.

4Mirror Of Loss

Located In The Cloister Of Somber Embrace

By the time players reach the Cloister of Somber Embrace in Baldur’s Gate, they will havecome to the end of Shadowheart’s questand have discovered her backstory and family secrets. They will also find an intact version of the Mirror of Loss after discovering a broken version in the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2.

The Mirror of Loss gives the character +2 to any ability they choose, up to a healthy maximum of 24; players needn’t worry if that Monk or Ranger is already wearing theGloves of Dexterityand took the Ability Enhancement Feat. Getting the mirror to work requires severalchecks for Perception, Religion, and Arcana, which is the hardest part about getting this improvement, but it’s worth it.

3The Graceful Cloth

Sold By Lady Esther On The Rosymorn Monastery Trail

The Graceful Clothactually does count as Clothing, so any character can wear it, and given this quality alone, it’s ideal for a Monk or Barbarian, but a Ranger or Rogue gets just as much benefit. For those who read descriptions, it has an interesting history that involves a famous Monk, so perhaps it’s designed specifically for this class.

Cat’s Grace is a spell that gives the target the same nimble qualities as a cat, which means that theyget resistance to falling damageand Advantage on Dexterity checks. Nimble as a Cat allows a player to increase their Jump by 5 feet and get a +1 bonus to their Dexterity saving throws.

2Armour Of Agility

Sold By Gloomy Fentonson In The Stormshore Armoury

A Monk or Rogue would need some kind of improvement to their AC abilities to wear this Medium armor, but the improvement granted by theArmour of Agilitymight be worth it, depending on the character’s party role. Rangers get the most natural benefit from this armor because they already have the required armor class proficiency and Stealth abilities.

It’s a piece of armor that most players never find, even though it’s sold by a vendor as opposed to being dropped by a boss or hidden in an obscure location. Gloomy Fentonson is located in the Stormshore Armoury in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate, and he sells many useful items along with this armor.

1Resilient: Dexterity

A Wise Investment For A Dexterity-Based Build

It’s better to take this Feat earlier in the character’s progression than later because it won’t stack on anything higher than 20, unlike other methods to improve Dexterity that the player encounters later in the game. The Mirror of Loss, for example, can be added on top of this Feat and improve the ability score to as high as 24.

In addition to the permanent ability score improvement, a character also gets Proficiency in Dexterity saving throws. This is useful forcharacters who use finesse weaponslike rapiers, scimitars, and ranged weapons, even if Dexterity isn’t one of their most important stats.
