Sometimes, all it takes to create an utterly addictive game is a bunch of colored rings revolving around each other, and that doesn’t even require a million-dollar investment in advanced visual tech.
Revolution Idleis one of those creative, indie gamesthat can keep players staring at their monitors for hours if not days. It’s a game that players always love to come back to and see their progression. That’s usually what allidle gamesare about, but this one comes with a very simplistic concept that gets quite enjoyable after some serious progression, leaving players with important questions about how to speed up their progression as soon as possible.
Explaining Ascension & When To Ascend In Revolution Idle
Before discussing the best time to Ascend, it’s important to understand the concept.Ascending a circle will upgrade it by two major factors: Mult Gain and Max Level.Mult Gain represents the amount of multiplier that the corresponding circle accumulates after one full revolution. Max Level indicates the cap of the revolution speed for the same circle.
With each ascension, Mult Gain increases by 10x. Originally, each circle revolution adds 0.01 unit to the corresponding multiplier, but after the first Ascension, that number goes up to 0.10. This means the amount of Mult Gain that used to be earned at Level 100 before Ascension, can be earned at Level 10 after Ascension. The overall multiplication of all multipliers will result in the number that appears in the middle of the screen with a Revolution icon next to it. So, a higher Mult Gain will help this number grow faster.
A higher Max Level unlocks a higher revolution speed for the circle. Every Ascension will add 10 levels to the previous cap. So, while the original cap is Level 100, after the first Ascension, it will rise to Level 110, meaning 10 new levels of higher speed will be unlocked.
With that concept,it’s usually best to activateAscension as soon as it becomes available, which is when a circle hits its Max Level. In a few conditions, it’s better to delay Ascension, though. If any of the other circles are less than 10 levels away from their Ascension, it’s best to wait for them to hit Max Level as well. Enabling the Ascension will slow down Revolution’s gain in its initial levels, but it will become faster after hitting Level 10.
Explaining Prestige & When To Apply It In Revolution Idle
Prestige is a bigger upgrade inRevolution Idlethat clears all Ascension upgrades done before. Prestige adds two new factors to the overall equation to increase the growth rate of Revolution Score:Prestige MultiplierandPrestige Exponent.
Prestige Multiplier is a number that increases non-stop before hitting Prestige. The moment you apply Prestige, the final number that Prestige Multiplier reaches becomes a new constant multiplier at the end of the equation. The gray multiplier shown in the second image above, in the top right corner of the screen, indicates Prestige Mult. This number will never increase after applying Prestige. However, it is still a massive booster to the amount of Revolution Score.
Prestige Exponent applies as a power to the entire equation. Once all the multipliers multiply into each other, the result will be raised to the power of the Prestige Exponent, which increases the Revolution Score even more.
While the game itself says it’s best to Prestige after Prestige Mult reaches 10x, it’s still suggested to wait longer andactivate it when Prestige Mult hits 50x or higher. Prestige is a much stronger upgrade compared to Ascension, which is the reason why it erases all Ascension effects.
Explaining Promotion & When To Promote In Revolution Idle
Promotion is the biggest upgrade, and unlike Prestige or Ascension,it is permanent. Activating a Promotion will remove the effects of Prestige as well as the Ascension, resetting the Revolution Score to zero again. However, it does come with four massive boosters, andthe player can only pick one of them.
Mult Gain Mult Promotion
The first Promotion upgrade offer is Mult Gain Mult, whichmultiplies the original value of your Mult Gain and increases it permanently. Originally, the base and starter value for Mult Gain is 0.01, meaning each revolution of a circle adds 0.01 to that circle’s multiplier. Ascension also works with that base number, making it 0.10 in the first Ascension upgrade.
Mult Gain Mult is highly recommended for the first Promotion.
When you apply Mult Gain Mult for the first time, the base value becomes 0.02 permanently. This means that Ascensions will also give greater numbers, like 0.20 instead of 0.10. Obviously, Promotion gives a massive boost to the growth of Revolution Score, and this simply means you can reach your previous all-time high 2x faster with this Promotion upgrade.
Laps Speed Mult
As the name implies, this upgradeincreases the speed of a single revolution of a circle. The increase for the first Promotion is x1.50, and it applies to the speed of all levels of the circle. This promotion will make it 50% faster to collect Mult from each circle, but it is not as strong as Mult Gain.
Still, Laps Speed Mult is thesecond-best option for promoting your systemfor the next run. This upgrade works quite well after applying an Ascension, as it no longer slows down the player’s Revolution Score gain significantly.
Ascension Power
This Promotion makes every Ascension upgrade stronger. For the first time, the upgrade increases the Mult Gain raise of Ascension byx10.50instead of x10. So, if the original Mult Gain for a circle is 0.01, it will rise to 0.105 instead of 0.10, which might still not be as ideal as Mult Gain Mult, but still a considerable option.
Both Ascension Power and Laps Speed Mult are upgrades that show the most value at their second or third level, which is why they are not recommended for the first Promotion.
Promotions Power
This one is an investment in the future. If you activate the Promotion with this option, you will receive no sensible upgrade for your new run, but the next time that you decide to Promote, all the offers will get a boost to x1.05, which is a 5% boost. So, the Mult Gain Mult offer, for example, will get a x2.1 boost, which will result in a base Mult Gain of x0.021.
This is probably the worst type of upgrade to receive, especially knowing that it will only become fruitful in the future. It is strongly suggested that you avoid this one as long as other options still look lucrative enough.
Promotion Exp
When choosing your Promotion, there is a progression bar below each option known asExp. There are three numbers in front of Exp. The first one shows the current Exp of the offer. The second number shows the cap for reaching the next level, and when it hits the next level, it will offer a better Promotion next time. The third number between the parentheses shows the amount of Exp gained by selecting the offer.
Keep in mind thatthe third number increases based on your current Prestige Mult. As long as your Prestige Mult is1,000, you will gain1 Expfor selecting any Promotion. Once it hits2,600, you will gain2 Exp.At4,400it becomes3 Exp, and goes up and up as the Prestige Mult goes up. If you are patient enough, you’re able to make big progress with your first Promotion and secure a bigger bonus for the next one.
Overall, the goal inRevolution Idleis to reach Infinity, but you will realize soon that the progression of the Infinity bar slows down as it goes forward. This is because the growth of the Revolution Score is not fast enough to meet the exponentially increasing target of Infinity. As a result, you will have to Ascend, Prestige, and Promote multiple times to eventually reach a point where the Infinity bar fills in quite fast, even in its latter half. That’s when you can think about future investments like Promotions Power, which could come in handy when Eternity becomes available.
