Ghost of Tsushimaincluded Iki Island as a DLC, which featured a new region to explore and a brand-new story chapter for Jin. The Possibilities of a DLC For Ghost of Yotei

Geographically, Iki Island is located close to Tsushima, making it a realistic location for Jin to make the journey. It’s likely thatGhost of Yoteiwill include DLC, and may have one as big as or bigger thanGhost of Tsushima’s Iki Island.Ghost of Yoteiwill take place in Hokkaido, which was called Ezo during the Edo Period, which began in 1603, the yearGhost of Yoteitakes place. Hokkaido is Japan’s biggest prefecture, and the second-biggest island in Japan’s archipelago.

Atsu’s journey will be in theregion of Mount Yotei in the south of Hokkaido.Ghost of Yoteihas many options for where to take a DLC in the same spirit as Iki Island. Like other parts of Japan, there are many islands off the coast of Hokkaido, but Atsu also has the option of other locations on Hokkaido’s mainland. There is also the possibility of setting aGhost of YoteiDLC in Edo Japan, which would require going south of Mount Yotei, or even traveling to Honshu.

Rebun and Rishiri Islands

A good option for aGhost of YoteiDLCis the twin islands of Rebun and Rishiri Islands, which are located just off the west coast of Hokkaido. Both islands are within clear sight of each other. Rishiri Island is dominated by a volcano, which would provide a dramatic mirror to Mount Yotei, giving the developer the opportunity to create a DLC that darkly mirrors Atsu’s character journey on the mainland. Rishiri Island would be the perfect setting for a reckoning, allowing Atsu to confront her past and the person she’s become in her quest for revenge.

Contrasting with Rishiri Island’s volcano, Rebun Island is far smaller but has dramatic cliffsides and is particularly known for its abundance of rare and beautiful alpine flowers, to the point that its moniker is “island of flowers.” Today, Rebun Island’s official mascot is named Atsumon, a coincidental link toGhost of Yotei’s Atsu. Rebun Island was inhabited by the Ainu people during the start of the Edo period, which gives more opportunities to see more of Ainu culture, particularly on a small island.

Another option would be to set aDLC on Japan’s biggest island, Honshu. Aomori and Akita prefectures are located very close to Hokkaido’s south, and they could give a glimpse into Edo Japan. However, this would mean moving away from the Ainu culture that Sucker Punch seems to want to depict, making it less likely. It remains a possibility, however, especially if it pushes Atsu towards character growth, especially later in the story, and has a lot of potential for an interesting side story.
