The Root of Evil quest for theBrushes with DeathDLC inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2, once again, sees Henry helping Master Votya. This time, the painter requires a unique Mandrake Decoction potion to soothe the voices in his head in order for him to focus on his magnum opus.As this potion cannot be bought, Henry must make it himselfvia alchemy, which meansfinding two rare ingredients, Mandrake Root and River Pearl.
Where To Find Mandrake Root - Root Of Evil - KCD2
To acquire Mandrake Root, players will want totalk to Gravedigger Frantishekat the church in the north-west corner of Kuttenberg. He will ask forhelp with beating up a few grave robbers, and if players accept, Henry willwait with him until midnight.
If the pair is successful and causes the robbers to run away,Frantishek will give Henry a key for a chest in his own home. Upon entering his home, open thesecond door on the right, and the chest can be unlocked, allowing Henry to take5 Madrake Roots.
What If The Fight Goes Wrong?
There are a number ofways for the brawl to go wrong. The player might be forced to surrender, or alternatively they mightdraw a blade and kill one of the men. Either way, Frantishek won’t be happy, refusing to give Henry any Mandrake Roots.
In this case, players have afew dishonest options. They could knock out Frantishek andtake his keys, pickpocket his keys, or alternatively, they couldsneak in at nightandrely on their lockpicking skills.
Where To Find River Pearl - Root Of Evil - KCD2
To find the River Pearl/Freshwater Pearl ingredient, players should head to themiddle of the search areanear Danemark andwalk slightly west against the flow of the stream. If players arrive in the daytime, they should see someheavily armed deserters.
Rather than fighting them outright, players can select an option totalk to their leader. From here, there are many possible skill checks, with the easiest being to offer to buy a pearl. If players choose this option, expect to cough up over 400 Groschen. Of course, players can test their luck withother skill checks to possibly get one for free.
Consider getting multiple River Pearls tomake more Mandrake Decoctionsfor yourself as well as Votya.
If playerselect to fight, make sure Henry is heavily armored and has experiencefighting multiple enemies inKCD2, as theencounter will be far from easy. If successful or via stealth, players can loot the pearls from the men and the camp. There are also some River Pearls in the stream, inside large clams.

Don’t worry about producing a Weak Mandrake Decoction, as while Votya will complain about it, he’ll still drink it, and it will work.Consider savingbefore starting the alchemy, especially if you only have one Freshwater pearl, as messing up the recipe entirely will render it useless.
Giving Master Votya the potion willcomplete the Root of Evil quest.
