Thanks to theBrushes with DeathDLC forKingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry is now able to get his shields painted, adding even more customization and flavor to the game. While this is just a small part of the story-based expansion, it feels great to decorate shields with period-accurate colors, designs, and evensymbols that can be unlocked. This guide will show playerswhere to get their shields painted inKCD2and everything they need to know about the process.
Where To Get Shields Painted In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To be able to have Henry’s shields painted, players mustfirst start theBrushes with DeathDLC, and one requirement is to have completed theFor Whom The Bell Tollsmain quest. After this, they should see a purple marker on the map, just south of Trosky Castle. Encountering the painter Voyta will trigger theSketchy Situationquest, and players will need tofind his brushes and return them.
Once Master Votya is back inhis workshop inside Trosky Castle, players can approach him during the day. Henry can ask ‘How does shield painting work?’ or choose the ‘Paint a shield for me’ option.
Eventually, the DLC will progress to Kuttenberg, and so players will be able to find Votya in his city workshop.
There should be apurple paintbrush iconfor Votya after completing theSketchy Situationquest.
How Does Shield Painting Work In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Players will need tohave a shield with themalready in their inventory, and it can either beblank or already painted. There are four types ofshields inKCD2: Cuman, Heater, Knight, and Pavese. Upon asking to have their shield painted by Votya, players will select one of their shields and submit it.
Shields can typically be bought from carpenters and some armorers, orfound elsewhere.
From here on out, it’s all about design and customization. When you’re happy with the shield, press ‘Accept change’ at the bottom. This is allcompletely freeas Votya is in Henry’s debt. Players can keep coming back to get more shields painted, and there’s even an option to have himrestore the shield’s original design.
Designing The Shield
Players have four different features to customize, and allchanges can be seen in real time, similarly togetting a haircut inKCD2.
The design options use real terminology from medieval heraldry. For example, ‘Goat Sable’ refers to a black goat. Additionally, check out the Pavese Shield for unique symbols.
Unlocking New Shield Symbols
By completing quests throughout the base game and possible future DLCs, Henry willunlock new symbols to have painted on his shields. Often, these symbols will be tied to the quest or a character in some way.
Keep an eye out for futuremodswith new symbols, as this seems likely.
Thankfully, upon completing returning Votya’s brushes, players willautomatically receive symbols for quests they have already completed.
