There’s a surprisingly good argument for Legion and Ghostface to break one of the key rules forDead by Daylight’s 2v8 mode. At face value, the idea of any game carving out a rule for one or two specific characters sounds like something to be done only in extenuating circumstances. While 2v8 mode is by no means broken,Dead by Daylightstill has one good argument to forego one specific rule in this instance. Of course, doing so would have a wealth of potential consequences, but for these two characters, it might be worth at least considering the idea.

The2v8 Mode inDead by Daylightfirst surfaced last year, and provided players with a new twist on the game’s formula. As the name implies, there are 2 Killers and 8 Survivors in the match, with three extra generators to repair. In addition, perks are replaced with classes, and Killer powers are reworked somewhat for the mode. Also, one thing that should be noted is that unlike the Survivors, who can choose whoever they want, only certain Killers are available, and both players cannot choose the same Killer. However, this restriction still lets players create plenty of interesting Killer combos in 2v8 mode.

Legion and Ghostface Both Consist of Multiple Characters

It’s common knowledge thatThe Legion inDead by Daylightis made up of four characters, albeit with only one in the trial at a time. 2v8 would be a perfect opportunity to finally have multiple Legion members in play at a time, but they can’t due to the Killer restriction. Ghostface should also be mentioned in this argument. WhileDead by Daylight’s Ghostface, Danny Johnson, works alone, in almost all other incarnations, there have been multiple people behind each Ghostface. That gives Ghostface an argument to ignore 2v8’s Killer restriction as well. However, 2v8’s Killer rules still apply to both of them.

Mortal Kombat 1’s version of Ghostface also featured multiple characters under the mask, as seen in gameplay.

How the meta would change forDead by Daylight’s Killers in 2v8if Legion and Ghostface could double up would be significant. Two Legions running around could potentially wreak a lot of havoc with two Feral Frenzies, which could force the Survivors to spend a lot of time mending. Meanwhile, two Ghostfaces could make great use of their stealth to mark and down Survivors, but the increased amount of Survivors would also make it easier for them to be spotted and taken out of stealth. While not as devastating as a double Nurse or Blight, these Killer setups could be quite powerful.

Multiple Legions in a Match May Not Be Warmly Received by All

This move could easily be met with some resistance. While not one ofDead by Daylight’s strongest Killers, Legion does have detractors who dislike playing against them, with frequent mending being the biggest complaint. As previously stated, two Legions in a match could lead to a lot of mending, dragging out the match for Survivors and likely causing such complaints to increase. Not to mention, two Legions in a match would also largely dilute one of their main weaknesses, which is a lack of map control. While it would make sense lore-wise, doubling up on Legions may not be healthy for the game.

Regardless, allowing two Legions or Ghostfaces in a single trial would make sense for afutureDead by Daylightevent. It would play into their lore, and fans of those killers would certainly be delighted. However, mechanics and game balance would have to be taken into account as well. There’s a chance that it simply may not be plausible, at least in the game’s current state. There’s a lot of thought that would have to go into the decision, but perhaps the next 2v8 could finally see some Killer doubles.
