Summary
World of Warcraftis adding a new spell in Patch 11.1.7 called Recuperate, which allows players to regenerate health outside of combat without food. This useful self-healing ability will be available for all classes and is expected to arrive in the nextWorld of Warcraftupdate.
From healing spells like a Paladin’s Flash of Light to a Warrior’s passive Second Wind talent, many classes have some way of healing themselves between combat. That said, for all ofWorld of Warcraft’s history, the most reliable way for characters to restore their hit points out of battle is by eating food – especially after the First Aid secondary profession was eliminatedinWorld of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
However,World of Warcraftis adding a new method of self-healing that will be even more effective than food. Recuperate is a general spellcoming inWorld of WarcraftPatch 11.1.7to every class that allows the caster to heal for 150% of their maximum hit points over the course of 30 seconds while out of combat. As showcased byWoWcontent creator MrGM on YouTube, when channeling Recuperate, the hero makes a campfire before cooking and eating a snack.
Recuperate Skill to Recover HP Out of Combat in WoW
Fans who haveplayedStar Wars: The Old Republicmay find this ability familiar. Since its launch nearly 15 years ago, each class has had a unique recovery skill they can channel to recover health and resources, such as the Sith Inquisitor’s Seethe or the Jedi Consular’s Meditation. Each of these abilities has a unique animation, with additional options available via certain racial abilities or collectible items – an idea thatWorld of Warcraftcould easily replicate in a similar way to its cosmetic Hearthstone toys down the road.
Right now, the tooltip for Recuperate on the Public Test Realm appears to be incorrect; the spell currently only channels for 10 seconds, rather than 30, healing for 50% of their health over the duration, meaning characters would have to recast it to recover more. This inconsistency will likely be rectified in future builds of the PTR over the next couple of months ahead of the patch’s release.
It is important to note that Recuperate does not provide any buffs, meaning food isn’t becoming completely useless in this update. Likewise, it currently does not recover mana, nor any other resources, though that could change in the future. If it doesn’t, some Druid, Evoker, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Shaman, and Warlock specializations may still need to stock up on drinks – or ask their localWorld of WarcraftMage friendto conjure some refreshments for them.
