Summary
Wuthering Waveshas officially revealed Cartethyia’s playable release for Version 2.4. Since her first in-game appearance in the 2.0 update, Cartethyia has become one of the most highly anticipated characters fromWuthering Waves' current patch cycle.
Players first encountered Cartethyia as an NPC in Chapter 2, Act 3 of the Rinascita main quest during Version 2.0, but she later played a key role in the region’s story. Cartethyia is also known as the Blessed Maiden, and her alter ego is called Fleurdelys, whom players faced in combat in the 2.2 update. Upon completing Act 4, Fleurdelys' challenge becomes one of theweekly boss fights available inWuthering Wavesas well. Per the game’s lore, Cartethyia is the most powerful Rinascita character, so players were hoping that Cartethyia would eventually join the playable roster. Fortunately for fans, the wait will soon be over, as Kuro Games has confirmed her playable debut.
Wuthering Waveshas shared official drip-marketing images of Cartethyia, making her the first new playable character for Version 2.4. As seen in the promotional art, Cartethyia will be a 5-Star unit, but her attribute and weapon remain unknown. Cartethyia is shown with Fleurdelys, and her description reads that “the powers of the Sentinel and Threnodian clash and unite within her.” This has prompted fans to speculate that Cartethyia’s gameplay might involve both of her personas, similar to howWuthering Waves' Zanichanges forms in combat.
Wuthering Waves Confirms Cartethyia’s First Banner for Version 2.4
Earlier leaks about Cartethyia suggested that she would be a Sword wielder with an Aero attribute. Like Huanglong’s Jinhsi, Cartethyia is the current Resonator of Rinascita’s Sentinel, Imperator, meaning she is very powerful. For this reason, her kit will likely make her a damage dealer rather than a support unit, and she could become one ofWuthering Waves' strongest DPS characters. If Kuro Games follows its usual schedule,Wuthering WavesVersion 2.4 should arrive around mid-June.
Despite her relevance in the main story, someWuthering Wavesfans were hesitant about Cartethyia becoming playable. There were also concerns that Cartethyia could suffer the same fate as Scar, another popular character that has remained a boss fight for several patches. Now that Cartethyia’s playability is confirmed, players can expect her banner in the first half of Version 2.4. In the same update,Wuthering Wavesis releasing new skinsfor Changli and Carlotta, which may hint at them getting reruns. There are rumors that yet another new character named Lupa could be introduced around the same time as well, but fans will have to wait for an official announcement.
